The Institute of European Integration and Policy is an independent, non-profit research and educational institution. It was founded in 2002 under the auspices of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Its main mission is to cover the teaching and research needs of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration in the fields of European integration and politics, to initiate teaching activities, to cooperate and exchange scientific knowledge with other academic or research centres in Greece and abroad, to organize seminars, lectures and to forge publications. For these purposes the Institute:
Conducts research on topics concerning European integration and politics with emphasis on European economic policy and governance, institutional and political system of the European Union, external relations of the EU, energy and environmental policy;
Provides information and conducts scientific analysis on the abovementioned issues;
Organizes summer school courses on contemporary issues related to European integration and politics;
Organizes simulations of the EU institutions in order to enhance the familiarization of the students with their function;
Cooperates with national and international research institutes and networks;
Organizes PhD seminars on methodology.
The Institute was the host institution of the Jean Monnet Module on Moving the EU Forward (2015-2018), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
As of March 2019, the Institute hosts the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy.
As of September 2019, the Institute hosts the Jean Monnet Module 'European Climate Diplomacy' (2019-2022), a project with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
