This campaign was launched in 2019 and so far, we have had four free events in Brussels, Montreal, Milan, Edmonton, Madrid and Vancouver. The final event has now moved online due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Our aim is to join European and Canadian youth together to have a more aligned and digitally inclusive future. The young people participating develop ideas, projects and policy recommendations for Canadian and EU policy makers on important topics such as Racism, Health, Climate change, Gender equality, Education and many more.
The #HiddenInventors campaign aims to celebrate European innovation - past, present and future. The campaign puts the spotlight on inventors few of us have heard of, but whose inventions we all know and use.
All in all, we aim at giving visibility and recognition to the Hidden Inventors who changed the world with amazing inventions. In doing so, we hope to drive a policy discussion on the value of invention and to inspire the next generation of inventors in Europe.
The pillars of the campaign include:
- 1. Outdoor billboards around EU institutions in Brussels with pixelated portraits of 5 European inventors to attract people’s interest and curiosity.
- 2. Webpage serving as a hub for all content, social media activation and media outreach.
- 3. Booklet with profiles of 20 #HiddenInventors that will be distributed to EU policymakers and to schools and will be available to download as a PDF from 1st October.
- 4. Street art
- 5. Live online Q&A with some of the inventors.
